“Surely, Allah and His angels send blessings to the Prophet. O, those who believe, do pray to Allah to bless him and send your salaam to him in abundance” (Surah Al-Ahzab, Verse 56)
3 points to be taken from this verse:
- Allah has obligated the Muslims to send durood and salaam upon the Prophet ﷺ. We are indebted to the Prophet ﷺ for the many favours he has done for us, his ummah. We should show our reverence and gratitude to him.
- It is a great merit for us to enjoin on that, which Allah and His angels do.
- By sending salaam and durood, not only are we completing the Prophet’s ﷺ right of honour, but we also are receiving many bounties and rewards from Allah.
“On the day of judgement, the person closest to me will be the one who has sent the most durood to me” (Tirmidhi)
“Whosoever recites a durood upon me once, Allah will give him 10 blessings, erase 10 sins from him, and his rank elevated 10 degrees” (Ahmad)
There are many more ahadeeth on the rewards obtained for sending salaam and durood. To reap the rewards, we should make this act part of our daily routine.
When it rains, say:
“O Allah, may it be a beneficial rain” (Bukhari)
Today, try your utmost best to recite the durood in plentiful, as the Prophet ﷺ has said “On Friday, send durood abundantly to me, as it is presented before me” (Abu Dawud)
After Allah SWT, we should love the Prophet ﷺ. He was sent to us as a guide, the best of men to be sent on Earth. Have you studied his life (seerah)? How much do you know him? How do you love someone you do not know?
For every aspect of our life, e.g. family, work, studies, there are so many lessons and morals we can learn and emulate into our lives. Do set some time aside this month and make an effort to study the seerah.
