Ramadan Reflections Day 20

Qur’an Reflection

“He is the One who created the heavens and the earth in six days, while his throne was on water, so that he may test you as to who among you is better in deed” (Surah Hud, Verse 7)

Two points from the above ayah. Firstly, Allah created water before he created the Heavens and Earth. And secondly, Allah is reminding us of the purpose of his creation. To test us so that he can see the deeds that we have accumulated.

Hadith reflection

“The most beloved actions in the sight of Allah are the regular ones, even if they amount to little in quantity” (Bukhari)

‘The word ‘actions’ refers to the optional actions of worship such as voluntary prayers, Qur’an recitation, dhikr, sadaqah and so on; that which a person takes upon themselves to fulfil on a regular basis.

We can draw the following from this  Hadith:

  1. Allah has made it so easy for us to gain his pleasure by just doing the small deeds that only require us to make just that little effort for which we too will be rewarded.
  2. These little acts will develop into good habits for the best interest of our character/deen and will benefit us ultimately.

Sunnah Dua

“O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the evil of my hearing, and from the evil of my sight, and from the evil of my tongue, and from the evil of my heart and from the evil of my issue.” (Abu Dawud)

Personal Reflection

Think of a small action, that you can start from today and maintain going forward that will be beloved to our Lord. E.g. Give 50p or £1 as sadaqah every day or read a paragraph of the Qu’ran each day, or help an elderly person with their daily tasks. InshAllah, these little acts will go a long way and will benefit you both in this world and in the hereafter.
