مَنْ أَعْرَضَ عَنْهُ فَإِنَّهُ يَحْمِلُ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ وِزْرًا
“whomsoever turns away from it, then surely on the day of judgement, he will carry a heavy burden.” (Surah Taha, verse 100)
‘by turning away from the Quran’ means:
- Not paying attention and respect when it is being recited
- Showing no desire to learn, read and understand it
- Reading incorrectly and not caring about pronunciation
- Reading without concentration (even if you do not know the meaning, focus on the words)
- Reading for worldly reason such as wealth and fame
- Knowing the teachings but failing to act upon them
‘Heavy load’ means: On the Day of Judgement, people will carry their sins on their head in the form of heavy loads as they neglected the rights and claims of the Quran.
اَلْقُرْآنُ حُجَّتٌ لَّكَ اَوْ عَلَيْكَ
“The Qur’an will either be evidence for you or against you” (Muslim)
The one who reads the Qur’an and acts upon its commandments, the Qur’an will appear on the day of judgement and will intercede for them and then will guide them to paradise.
The one who neglected the Qur’an in the dunya, on the day of judgement the Qur’an will bear witness against them and will drive them to the hell fire.
اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ الْهُدَى وَالتُّقَى وَالْعَفَافَ وَالْغِنَى
“O Allah, I ask you for guidance, righteousness, chastity, and independence” (Muslim)
On Laytul Qadr, the Quran was sent to our Prophet Muhammad ﷺ . Tonight, is an odd night, recite a lot of Qur’an with the hope the Qur’an will intercede for us and take us to Jannah InshAllah.
Ibn Katheer says “the most honourable of books was revealed in the most honourable of languages to the most honourable of messengers, through the most honourable of angels and this took place in the honourable place of the earth and the beginning of revelation was in the most honourable months of the year and that is Ramadan, so it is perfect from all channels.”
